IFS is at the forefront of a movement toward a more collaborative therapeutic approach that relies on clients' intuitive wisdom. IFS offers a clear, non-pathologizing, and empowering view of human cognitive and emotional life and provides a dynamic therapeutic approach that allows both therapist and client to enter into a TRANSFORMATIONAL relationship in which healing can occur.
Furthermore, IFS is a unique therapeutic approach that shares the belief that we are all made up of various parts of ourselves and have one core or what I call true self! When parts of us become hurt and hold feelings of worry, sadness, shame, fear, loneliness, and more, we develop protectors that try to ensure we do not experience pain again. The way our protectors protect us can become so extreme that we have no access to our core selves.
Our core self is our most authentic self that operates and includes feelings such as calm, curiosity, connectedness, and confidence. IFS teaches us how to help our wounded parts heal so that protectors can step back and or learn how to protect us healthily.
Protectors often do not know there is another way they can help us throughout life and our pain-filled parts also do not know that they can be unburdened or healed so that protectors do not have to work so hard protecting us!
IFS is an evidence-based approach for true healing and transformation!
